Growing up on a naval base in Washington state, Marti Malloy first began judo at age six alongside her three brothers. About ten years later, she had become one of the world’s best, qualifying for the London Olympics and earning a bronze medal there for the United States. Heading into the 2016 Rio Games, Malloy remains one of the top judokas in the women’s lightweight (57kg/125 lbs) class. Malloy grew up sparring against MMA superstar and 2008 Olympic judo bronze medalist Ronda Rousey. Rousey credits with Malloy with successfully beating her once. Malloy has a wide range of nicknames that include Martian, Martidamus and Titanium Malloy.
