NFL Week 10: What We Learned

Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Nick Foles continue to shine as the season rolls on.

The Giants, Ravens and Jaguars had plenty of fight this week, but teams like the Cincinnati Bengals, Colts and Packers - teams at, or near the top of their divisions that needed wins this week - came up short in shocking losses. Add in another week of stellar performances from Nick Foles, Drew Brees and Peyton Manning and this week's NFL action had plenty of drama.

Here's What Else We Learned:

Manning's Magical Season Continues: Four TD passes against the Chargers in a 28-20 win give the 37-year-old 33 TD passes for the season, with seven games left to play. To put those numbers into perspective, Manning threw 37 TDs all of last season and has only thrown more than 33 TDs in a season four times in his 16-year career.

Giants D Helps Big Blue Earn Third Consecutive Win: It wasn't a pretty win for the New York Giants, who gave up 17 points on turnovers in the first half against the Raiders, but behind a 65-interception return by Terrell Thomas, four sacks and 115 yards rushing by Andre Brown, Big Blue held on for a 24-20 must win. Now 3-6, the Giants have games against Green Bay, Dallas and Washington and can easily get back in the playoff hunt in the less than stellar NFC East. But with a plethora of question marks, including inconsistent QB Eli Manning (12/22, 140 yards against Oakland), the Giants face an uphill battle.

Tavon Austin Beats Colts: Austin had 138 yards receiving with two TDs and a 98-yard punt return for a score in a dazzling showcase of speed in a 38-8 win against a tough Colts team in Week 10. Their first win since starting QB Sam Bradford tore his ACL on Oct. 20, can the first-year speedster lead the 4-6 Rams to an unlikely playoff appearance?

Foles Perfect Again as Eagles Soar Over Rodgers-Less Packers: After hurling seven TD passes against the Raiders last week, Foles was perfect again, throwing three TDs in a 27-13 win over the Green Bay Packers, who had backup QB Seneca Wallace start at QB for injured Aaron Rodgers. To make matters worse for Green Bay, Wallace left with a groin injury, forcing Scott Tolzien, recently signed from the practice squad to play. Now with 16 TDs and no interceptions this season, Foles continues to make his case to remain the Eagles starting QB once Michael Vick returns from injury.

Bengals OT Woes Continue: For the second straight week, the Bengals lost in OT. Still atop the AFC North with a 6-4 record, the Bengals could easily be 8-2 and sitting pretty. Two second half interceptions from QB Andy Dalton kept Baltimore close late. Overcoming a 17-0 deficit at halftime, Cincinnati was able to force OT, but a Justin Tucker FG gave the Ravens a must-win in OT.

"Megatron" Becomes Lions All-Time Receiving TD Leader in Win Over Bears: After a two-TD performance against the Bears, Calvin Johnson became the Lions all-time leader in TD receptions and led Detroit to a 21-19 win over Chicago. Reggie Bush also ran for 105 yards, while the Bears' injury-plagued QB Jay Cutler left in the third quarter with an ankle injury.

Drew Brees Shows Love to Recieving Core in Rout Over Cowboys: Brees threw for four touchdowns and 392 yards and connected with nine different recievers in a 49-17 dismantling of the Cowboys this week. The Saints also set an NFL record with 40 first downs. Much like Manning in Denver, Brees is having a one of a kind season. Through nine games, Brees has 25 TD passes and is on his way to another 5,000 yard season.

Jaguars Earn First Win: It took the Jaguars nine weeks, but they finally have their first win. Possessing the NFL's worst offense in terms of yards-per-game and points-per-game, Jacksonville never trailed. They also got rushing TDs from Maurice Jones-Drew and and Jordan Todman and held on in spite of 17 fourth quarter points from the Titans.
