New Design for Warriors' Waterfront Arena Released

Spectators at the Warriors' new arena would have Bay Bridge views.

Before you leave a Warriors game of the future, make sure Bay Bridge traffic isn't bad -- just peek out the window and take a look.

Updated plans for the Golden State Warriors' new arena on the San Francisco waterfront include views of the Bay Bridge, according to the San Francisco Examiner.

The plans for the privately-financed arena, to be built on Piers 30-32 just south of the Bay Bridge, now include less seating and luxury suites in exchange for a large window -- and also more "maritime uses."

There will be less retail space and space for a cruise ship to dock at the piers, a requirement for the development project suggested by state officials.

The team's new plans come at a time when the plans must be vetted by a variety of state and local planning officials.

"Under the plan, the Warriors would finance the arena construction and the repair of the piers, which has been estimated at between $875 million and $975 million," the newspaper reported. "The team would be eligible for up to $120 million in reimbursement from The City for the pier repair work."
