When you look at the standings you'll see San Francisco tied with Milwaukee for the third best record in the National League.

The Giants were fresh off a weekend home sweep of Texas and going for their fourth straight win Monday night facing the A’s in Oakland.

Meanwhile the A's were trying to snap a five-game losing streak as the 'Battle of the Bay’ made its way to the Coliseum.

The A’s had the most offensive firepower and brought home five straight runs in a 5-1 win.

Oakland rookie starting pitcher Trevor Cahill picked up his third straight win, but started out a little shaky giving up a solo home run to Travis Ishikawa -- his fourth of the season -- in the bottom of the second.

Cahill and the bullpen would yield no more though, while Oakland infielder Bobby Crosby had a two-run double in the sixth -- part of a three RBI night -- as the A’s took game one of the series.

Vin Mazzaro and Tim Lincecum are slated to square off Tuesday night.
