Packers' Andrew Quarless Late to Training Camp After Daughter's Death

A Packers' player has opened up about why he missed the first few days of training camp.
Andrew Quarless, a tight end who joined the Packers in 2010, explained to reporters he was mourning his newborn daughter's death last week, ESPN reported.

Calling it the "saddest day of my life," Quarless returned to the team Saturday.

"It felt real good just to get out there, catch some passes, be able to run around a little bit, kind of get back to your old self and get back into things," Quarless said to ESPN.

Joining him on his first day back were many member of Quarless' family, including his five-year-old son.

Quarless thanked the team for understanding, and added an additional thanks for standing behind him after a run-in with the law.

Early last month, Quarless was arrested in Miami after allegedly firing a gun in a public place.

The two incidents have given Quarless a new perspective on life, saying "you can't take anything for granted."
