The Golden State Warriors need some depth at point guard and appear to be turning to a local cult hero in the making. Palo Alto’s Jeremy Lin. who played at Harvard and went undrafted, is on the verge of a deal with his favorite team growing up.
NBC Bay Area confirmed with Lin’s agent Roger Montgomery Tuesday night that the guard is expected to sign a contract with the Warriors on Wednesday.
Lin grabbed the attention of scouts across the league with a strong showing at the NBA Summer League while playing with the Dallas Mavericks. Golden State had a spot at the point after trading C.J. Watson to the Chicago Bulls.
University of San Francisco head coach Rex Walters, who played high school basketball in San Jose, and like Misaka is also Japanese American, played in the NBA from 1993 to 2000.
