Paris Henken

Country: USA
Sport: Sailing
Date of Birth: 12/22/1995
First Olympics: 2016, Rio de Janeiro

Paris Henken began sailing when she was 8 years old after joining the Coronado Yacht Club program. She quickly developed a competitive sailing spirit and has achieved many excellent results in the skiff. Ultimately, those results led to a spot on the U.S. development team where Henken and current teammate Helena Scutt first sailed together in 2010. Three years passed, and they developed their skills with other, more experienced sailors. In March 2013, they teamed up again after their national team coach suggested they give Olympic training a shot in the 49er FX – the newly announced Olympic boat for the women’s skiff – which is a practical boat to compete in, after much joint experience in the 29er. Henken was awarded the 2013 San Diego Yacht Club: Jessop Girls Day Trophy for Outstanding Female Sailor of the Year and recently won bronze in the 49er FX at the 2015 Pan American Games. Henken alongside Scutt have officially qualified for the U.S. Olympic sailing team in the 49er FX from their results in qualifying events following the U.S. sailing athlete selection procedures.
