Several reports have former Dodgers pitcher Brad Penny joining the Giants for essentially pennies on a major league dollar after going unclaimed on waivers. Penny started this season with the Boston Red Sox.
At SI.com, Jon Heyman first reported, โThe Giants only have to pay him the pro-rated portion of the big-league minimum of $400,000, which will be less than $100,000.โ
Extra Baggs describes it as an extremely low-risk move while breaking down the numbers; โPenny was 7-8 with a 5.61 ERA in 24 starts for the Red Sox before he was placed on release waivers.โ
The Giants have Monday off before starting a three-game series in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
What do you think about the possibility of Penny joining San Francisco's staff?
