Raiders Blamed for NY Jets' Holdout

The Jets blame the Raiders for their holdouts.

When the Oakland Raiders have players holding out of training camp, one could say that it's the Oakland Raiders' fault.

When other NFL teams have players holding out of training camp, they still say that it's the Oakland Raiders' fault.

As New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis' holdout enters its second week, the Jets are getting testy. They're upset because Nnamdi Asomugha's three-year, $45 million contract with the Raiders sets a higher bar for salaries at the cornerback position.

The Jets have not yet called out the Raiders publicly. But reports that "behind the scenes, the Jets have continued to peddle the line that it's all Al Davis' fault."

Other NFL teams are buying the excuse. "In our league, we let one man's stupidity ruin it," an anonymous NFL GM told the New York Daily News. "I would just say, 'I'm not acknowledging it. It's Al Davis. We are not doing that deal'."

Because of the Jets' unwillingness to pay Nnamdi money to Darrelle Revis, there are rumors that Revis might sit out the entire 2010 season.

Fat chance on your "soon to be champs" prediction if that happens, Jets coach Rex Ryan.
