Raiders Rookies' Horrible Haircuts

Think you're having a bad hair day? Not compared to some of the Oakland Raiders, you're not.

It's an annual rite of rookie hazing in many NFL training camps, when the first-year guys are forced to get outrageous prank haircuts from the veteran players. And at the end of Tuesday afternoon's Raiders training camp practice, things got hazy.

The Raiders rookies took their ridiculous haircuts like men, and a complete photo gallery of the shear outlandishness is online at the Thoughts from the Dark Side blog.

Many of the most outrageous prank haircuts of all time were represented -- the Quadruple Mohawk, the Half-and-Half, and the Captain Stubing. The Oakland Raiders may play the same pass defense year-in and year-out, but they sure are creative at coming up with new haircuts.

This prank has been around the NFL for years. But it's become way more public in the internet era, particularly this week when Denver Bronco Tim Tebow got the Friar Tuck and Jacksonville Jaguar was given the Visible Phallus.

Seems like innocent fun, right? But some NFL players think the veterans should cut it out.

"We don't do that around here," Peyton Manning told Fanhouse, when asked about rookie hazing haircuts. "Because we don't treat the guys like rookies. We expect those guys to play this year and to play well."

This from a guy whose everyday haircut looks like a prank hairdo.
