Rockies Top Giants

Carlos Gonzalez hit two home runs and Troy Tulowitzki added another as Colorado split the series with a 6-1 victory. Ubaldo Jimenez (7 IP, 1 ER, 9 K's) won his franchise high tying 17th game of the season, outpitching Madison Bumgarner (4 IP, 4 ER, 3 K'S).

San Francisco fell behind early when Ryan Spilborghs doubled to deep left scoring two runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Gonzalez made it 4-0 in the 5th when he hit the first of his two homers, a two run shot to right scoring Todd Helton.

The Giants got on the board in the 6th when Buster Posey doubled to deep right center scoring Aubrey Huff, but that was all the Giants could muster. Gonzalez and Tulowitzki went deep in back to back at bats in the 6th inning, ending all scoring for the day.

Jimenez became the fourth Rockies pitcher to win 17 games and the first since Jeff Francis did it in 2007, when Colorado reached the World Series. Kevin Ritz (1996) and Pedro Astacio (1999) were the other franchise pitchers to win 17 games in a season.

San Francisco starts a four-game series with Atlanta Thursday.
