Rookie Sucker-Punches 49ers on Job Offer

You might remember LeGarrette Blount. He's the University of Oregon running back who was all over the scores and highlights this past Labor Day weekend for punching out a Boise State opponent on national television, and then picking fights with his own teammates who were trying to hold him back.

Well, Mr. Blount is up to his old tricks again. But this time, he's sucker-punching the San Francisco 49ers.

Blount was not selected by anyone this weekend in the NFL Draft (can't imagine why!) and agreed to terms verbally to join the 49ers as an undrafted street free agent when they called and made an offer.

But ESPN reports that not long after, Blount just up and changed his mind, going back on his word and jumping on a plane to join the Tennessee Titans instead.

Matt Barrows reports in the Sacramento Bee that, just like my fourth fiance, Blount dumped the 49ers over the phone. "Would have liked to have been a fly on the wall for that one," Barrows wisecracks.

Know what I would have liked even more? For Coach Singletary Blount and Blount to have settled this in Octagon mixed martial arts setting.

Joe Kukura is a freelance writer who would have just misspelled "LeGarette Blount" all the time anyway.
