The International Olympic Committee announced Tuesday that a Russian sprinter was disqualified from the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, meaning her team's gold medal in the 4x100-meter relay is withdrawn.
Yulia Chermoshanskaya tested positive for two prohibited substances, stanozolol and turinabol, that were found on a retest, and has been retroactively disqualified, according to an IOC news release.
She and the rest of the relay team were ordered to return the gold medals.
Russia beat Belgium in that year's 4x100-meter relay, by 0.2 seconds, with Nigeria taking bronze. Chermoshanskaya ran the last leg of the race as her team's anchor.
Chermoshanskaya also was disqualified from the 200 meters, in which she finished eighth.
The IOC asked the IAAF to modify the results and take any further action against the athlete.
Belgium stands to be upgraded to gold, with Nigeria moving up to silver and Brazil to bronze.

The IOC retested doping samples from the Beijing and 2012 London Games with improved techniques. A total of 98 positives were recorded.
