Victory is sweet reward. And collecting on a bet is even sweeter.

That's the spirit rushing through San Francisco City Hall this week after the Giants beat the Atlanta Braves on Monday, making them the National League West Champions.

Before the series started, Mayor Gavin Newsom and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed made a bet that whichever team won, that city had to fly the opposing team's flag over their city Hall.

On Tuesday, Newsom talked about the bet, basking in the glory that SF won't be the host of the Atlanta team's flag.

"Can you imagine having to hoist the Atlanta Braves flag right behind me at City Hall -- the indignity --  so I feel for my friend the mayor of Atlanta because that’s exactly what he will be doing when he receives the Giants flag," Newsom said. "We are looking forward to the YouTube clip of that."

The Giants take on the Phillies Saturday and already, that city's mayor is warning Newsom not to become to high on his horse.
