Singletary to be a Ram's Father-In-Law

The San Francisco 49ers' do-or-die matchup this Sunday with the St. Louis Rams already promises all the anxiety and indigestion of a large family gathering for Christmas dinner.

It's an angst-ridden family affair in one respect for sure. One of the Rams is engaged to 49ers coach Mike Singletary's daughter.

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports the juicy gossip that Singletary's daughter Jill is engaged to marry the Rams' sixth-year safety Oshiomogho "O.J." Atogwe. The couple plan to wed on May 21, 2011.

Good thing the father of the bride's contract calls for guaranteed salary payouts if he were to somehow find himself out of a job.

Atogwe admits he was a little scared upon his introduction to the fiance's old man, the kind of father-in-law so imposing he makes Bob DeNiro look about as ferocious as Bob the Builder.

"I can’t lie to you: The first time I met him, for about five seconds I was intimidated," Otogwe told the Press Democrat. "After that he said hello and we started talking and then it went out the window."

Five seconds? O.J., I've been intimidated by the sight of Samurai Mike for about the last 30 years.

Atogwe is, at least, Stanford material. He made All-PAC 10 for the Cardinal in 2003, and graduated in 2005 with a degree in Biological Sciences.
