The speculation that the highest paid player on the team would make the World Series roster proved false Wednesday.
Manager Bruch Buchy's World Series roster is now official and it does not include Barry Zito. Buchy is sticking with the team that got him this far name by name.
Pitchers (11)
Catchers (2)
Infielders (7)
Outfielders (5)
Barry Zito worked out with the team on Monday at AT&T Park. Sports columnist Henry Sholeman reported Zito even stayed after the practice was over to make more pitches from the mounda and Buchy watched. That, plus his veteran status, not to mention his pay check had some thinking that he had a shot at the World Series.
In the end, it didn't happen. Zito and his $18 million salary will remain a very highly paid cheerleader with great seats.
