Ashkon Makes Ed Lee Video

An impressive number of San Francisco elite take part in the video.

It's not "Don't Stop Believing," but one of the most famous Giants' fans is wearing a new hat this season. It's a political one.

Ashkon has produced a music video he hopes will help San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee keep his job.

The video features the likes of MC Hammer, Brian Wilson and Marissa Mayer and is to the tune of Hammer's "2 Legit 2 Quit."

All of them apparently want you to vote for Lee.

It's a two minute video that you will probably find yourself talking about during your next break no matter where you live in the Bay Area and no matter what your political leaning.

This video only has a few hundred hits so far on its first day on the web.

Ashkon's infamous Giants video has 2.5 million.

The Chronicle's Carla Marinucci said the ad was thought up in August by Ron Conway who heads up "San Franciscans for Jobs and Good Goverment." Marinucci said it cost $18,000 to make, which is a fraction of television ad time. Conway is clearing hoping it will go viral.

Other celebs who took part in the video:

  • Biz Stone, Twitter Co-Founder
  • will.i.am, The Black Eyed Peas
  • Ronnie Lott, 49ers Legend
  • Jed York, 49ers President
  • Willie Brown, Former SF Mayor
  • Hunter Walk, YouTube

The lyrics:
Too Legit, too legit to quit
Ed Leeeeeee!
Too Legit, too legit to quit
Ed Leeeeeee!

My my my, music hits me so hard,
Newsom left and they put him in charge,
Thank you, for blessing me,
and the rest of the city with Mayor Ed Lee
Got us all sayin' "Run Lee Run"
Only 5 ft 5, but he gets (bleep) done
So tell them other candidates to find a bus pass,
Unless you ridin with us...FEAR THE MUSTACHE!
