49ers ILB Bowman Set for MRI on Apparent Achilles Injury

SANTA CLARA -– All-Pro 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman is scheduled to undergo an MRI on an apparent left Achilles injury, he told CSNBayArea.com as he left Levi's Stadium on Sunday evening.

Bowman was walking slowly as he left the 49ers' locker room. He wore an orthopedic boot on his left foot. He declined comment, but confirmed the MRI examination on his Achilles tendon is scheduled for Monday.

Bowman was injured in the third quarter on a non-contact play.

The injury is not related to the severe left knee damage he sustained during the NFC Championship game against the Seattle Seahawks after the 2013 season. Bowman did not play in 2014, but he returned last year and led the NFL in tackles and was named first-team All-Pro for the fourth time in his career.

Bowman, 28, recorded eight tackles and a sack before leaving the 49ers' 24-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Bowman left with the 49ers leading 17-14 with six minutes remaining in the third quarter.
