The 49ers placed safety Eric Reid on the Injured Reserve list on Tuesday, the team announced, hours after he underwent surgery to repair a torn right biceps.
To fill the void, safety Vinnie Sunseri was promoted from the practice squad. The former Saints safety was signed to the 49ers' practice squad on Nov. 1 after being released by the Patriots.
Safety Marcus Ball was signed to the practice squad to take Sunseri's spot. Ball was released from the Jaguars' practice squad on Oct. 24.
Reid sustained the torn biceps during Sunday's game against the Patriots.
