Bowman Promises ‘major Comeback' From Achilles Injury

Four-time first-team All-Pro linebacker NaVorro Bowman on Thursday promised “a major comeback” from the torn left Achilles that ended his season on Sunday.

Bowman sustained the injury during a non-contact play in the third quarter of the 49ers’ 24-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys at Levi’s Stadium. An MRI examination on Monday confirmed the season-ending nature of the injury.

“I want to say thank you to all the fans, my teammates and peers that have sent me get-well wishes for a speedy recovery,” Bowman wrote on Twitter. “I know God will protect and guide me thru these times. It’s just a minor setback for a major comeback.”

Bowman, 28, is no stranger to major comebacks. He sustained a devastating left knee injury in January 2014 in the NFC Championship game at Seattle. He missed the entire 2014 regular season before returning in 2015 to lead the NFL in tackles.
