Gabbert: 49ers Face Challenge of Executing Better in Seattle

SANTA CLARA -– Blaine Gabbert's second start with the 49ers came in Seattle, a place that has not been kind to the 49ers.

The 49ers, coming off a 46-27 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, will try to break a five-game losing streak to the Seahawks overall, and a five-game losing streak in Seattle.

The 49ers have scored 28 and 27 points in their first two games, but they have not scored 20 or more points in their past 10 meetings against Seattle.

"It's a fun place to play," Gabbert said on Wednesday. "It's a hostile environment. Playing on the road's always fun in the NFL just because there are so many factors that are going against your football team and I love playing on the road.

"Seattle's no different. It's a great place to play. Their fans are really enthusiastic and it's just fun to go up there and play in that stadium."

Last year, Gabbert completed 22 of 34 pass attempts for 264 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the 49ers' 29-13 loss in Seattle. Gabbert said the crowd noise at CenturyLink Field offers more challenges in certain situations.

"When you're on the road, there's going to be specific situations in the red zone, key third downs, that the fans are going to be into it. But that just means from an offensive standpoint we have to be on our game. We've got to be focused on the snap count, focused on all our non-verbal communication and just execute at a higher level."
