Report: 49ers RB Hyde Suffers Torn MCL, Out for Final Game

Carlos Hyde's 2016 season will end just 12 yards shy of 1,000 yards. The 49ers' running back reportedly suffered a torn MCL Saturday against the Rams.

Hyde sustained the injury to his left knee early in the fourth quarter when Los Angeles Rams cornerback E.J. Gaines went low to Hyde as he turned upfield after catching a short pass from Colin Kaepernick.

Hyde buckled to the ground in pain. He required assistance to leave the field and was immediately taken to the 49ers' locker room for further observation.

In his third season with the 49ers, Hyde finished the year with 988 yards rushing and six touchdowns in 13 games, good for 4.6 yards per carry. Hyde also added 163 yards receiving and three more scores.

ESPN's Adam Schefter was first to report the news.
