Ward, McDonald Leave With Injuries

SEATTLE – Cornerback Jimmie Ward left the game in the second quarter after going down with a right leg injury while covering a kickoff.

Ward sustained a quadriceps injury, the team announced. He was immediately ruled out for the remainder of the 49ers' game Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

Also, tight end Vance McDonald sustained a hip injury in the first half. The 49ers announced that McDonald was questionable to return to the action against the Seahawks. McDonald had two catches for 4 yards before leaving the game. Garrett Celek replaced McDonald in the 49ers' lineup.

Ward, the 49ers' starting cornerback, grabbed his right leg as he went down with 9:34 remaining in the second quarter. Ward required some assistance from the team's medical staff to walk to the sideline.

Keith Reaser replaced Ward in the 49ers' base defense at right cornerback.
