Giants' Bumgarner Finishes Fourth in 2016 NL Cy Young Voting

In arguably the best season of his career, Madison Bumgarner equaled his best finish in a Cy Young race.

In the results that were announced Wednesday, the Giants' ace finished fourth behind winner Max Scherzer and runner-ups Jon Lester and Kyle Hendricks. Bumgarner finished fourth in 2014 and sixth in 2015.

Bumgarner posted a career-best 2.74 ERA in a career-high 226.2 innings. He surpassed 250 strikeouts in a season for the first time, finishing with a career-best 251. For the fourth straight season, Bumgarner was named to the National League All-Star team.

The 27-year-old did not recieve any first-place votes, but he recieved two second-place votes, six third place votes, seven fourth-place votes and six fifth-place votes. He finished with a total of 46 points. Scherzer got 192 points, while Lester got 102 and Hendricks tallied 85.
