Kuiper Shares Funny Bus, Bathroom Pregame Interactions With Bumgarner

Madison Bumgarner's legend grew on Wednesday night.

The 2014 World Series MVP tossed a complete game shutout against the Mets to push the Giants into the NLDS.

On Thursday morning, Giants broadcaster Duane Kuiper shared two stories on KNBR 680.

"We got on the bus at 4 o'clock, and Jeff Kent was the only guy that rode the bus regularly to the park, but here's a guy, and I thought it was Chad Chop -- one of the guys that works with (Shawon) Dunston in the clubhouse -- there's a guy that's taking a nap, he's got his hat over his head. It's Bum," Kuiper said. "He's on the bus taking a nap on the way to the biggest game of the year.

"And then he wakes up, and he starts to talk a little bit. So we walked off the bus, and he said 'I'm gonna steal a base tonight. Syndergaard is very slow to the plate. I'm gonna steal a base.' He's not talking about throwing a shutout ... because I think that he just figures that he's gonna throw a shutout. So he wants to do something that he hasn't done before, and that's steal a base in the postseason."

During the regular season, Noah Syndergaard allowed 48 stolen bases -- the 12th most in a single season in MLB history.

Bumgarner didn't get a chance to steal, as he went 0-for-3 at the plate.

But he was dominant on the mound, allowing just four hits and two walks, while striking out six over 119 pitches.

What's that second story?

"And then fast forward to about an hour and 45 minutes before the game, you know you spend some time on the field, and as I'm running up into the clubhouse ... he sees me in the bathroom and he goes, 'Are you nervous? Is this a nervous pee?' He said, 'Don't be nervous. That's the last thing you need to be is nervous.'

"... He doesn't have a heartbeat. It's unbelievable."
