Just hours after being released by the Red Sox, Pablo Sandoval is reportedly signing a deal to the return to the Giants.
A source told NBCSportsBayArea.com that the Giants have not yet signed Sandoval, who has yet to clear waivers.
News of a deal was first reported by MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez and FanRag Sports Jon Heyman.
The pact is a minor league deal and Sandoval will report to Triple-A Sacramento.
Sandoval was designated for assignment by Boston on Friday and released earlier on Wednesday.
