Come to Sac: Cousins Throws Fuel on Trade Rumor Mill Fire

DeMarcus Cousins hates trade rumors, especially the ones that involve him. Be it the constant Boston Celtics talk or trade machine deals sending him to plenty of other cities, Cousins wants no part of it.

But on Monday in Washington, Cousins threw some fuel on the rumor mill fire when asked about former Kentucky teammates John Wall and Eric Bledsoe.

“Do we ever talk about playing with one another? Is that your question?,” Cousins asked in response to a reporter’s inquiries. “It’s came up. They’re going to all come to Sac. Come to Sac.”

Cousins was smiling during the exchange. He knows that a reunion with his former college buddies isn’t as easy as it sounds. Wall signed a max-money deal that will keep him in Washington until after the 2018-19 season. Like Wall, Bledsoe inked a 5-year, $70 million deal with the Suns in 2014 that will keep in Phoenix until the summer of 2019.

Speaking to the Washington Post after the game, Wall said that he and Cousins, “Talk about it all the time.”

“Just trying to figure out what’s going to happen, you know what I mean?” Wall told reporters following Washington’s 101-95 win over the Kings. “[Cousins] loves where he’s at and I love where I’m at, so whatever we feel like gives us the best opportunity to win — I know what our [team] is here and what I want to do here. And it’s something I keep in my mind.”

Cousins was a little more playful in his answer.

“Play with John and Eric again … you never know what will happen,” Cousins added. “It’s the NBA, so hopefully one day he’ll be in a Sacramento uniform.”

Despite plenty of rumors to the contrary over the last six years, the two-time All-Star is comfortable in Sacramento and would love to stay long term if the Kings’ prospects of winning improve.

Cousins is under contract with Sacramento through the 2017-18 season and he is eligible for a monster contract extension this summer.
