Cousins in Awe as He Passes Webber on Sacramento-era Points List

DeMarcus Cousins continues his march to rewrite the Sacramento Kings record books. The 26-year-old center already owns the Sacramento-era records for most rebounds (4,641), most double-doubles (251) and most free throw attempts (3,166). On Sunday evening against the Brooklyn Nets, he moved up the Kings’ all-time scoring list, while setting a new standard for personal fouls.

With his 37-point performance in Brooklyn, Cousins surpassed Chris Webber (8,843) to move into third place all-time in scoring during the Sacramento-era of Kings basketball with 8,847 points.

“That’s incredible,” Cousins said of the accomplishment following the game. “I don’t really have to speak on Chris Webber’s legacy, especially in Sacramento. He’s the biggest icon to walk through the city. I’m excited, man. I never thought that would happen. That’s dope.”

He trails Hall of Famer Mitch Richmond (12,070) and long-time King, Peja Stojakovic (9,498) on the all-time list. Cousins needs just 651 to catch Stojakovic this season, but it will take a while to track down Richmond.

Cousins came into the game tied with Jason Thompson (1,671) for the all-time lead in personal fouls. With two against the Nets, he now hold the record with 1,673 personals.

If he remains healthy, Cousins has an opportunity to move up the list in plenty of other categories for the Kings this season, including free throw makes (2nd with 2,311), steals (3rd with 606), blocks (4th with 503), games played (8th with 432), field goals made (4th with 3213) and attempted (4th with 6,969).
