Report: Grizzlies' Conley to Miss Significant Time Due to Broken Bone in Back

A person familiar with the injury tells The Associated Press that Memphis Grizzlies star guard Mike Conley will miss at least miss six weeks because of a broken bone in his lower back.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Grizzlies had not updated Conley's injury Tuesday afternoon.

He was hurt Monday night during the third quarter of a 104-85 loss to Charlotte after taking a charge from Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. He left the game and did not return.

The guard is Memphis' leading scorer. He is averaging 19.2 points and 5.7 assists. He signed a five-year, $153 million contract in July to stay with the Grizzlies.

Yahoo! Sports first reported the injury.
