Source: Gay Underwent Shock Wave Treatment on Achilles

Earlier this summer, Rudy Gay underwent shock wave treatment -- not surgery -- to alleviate pain in his Achilles, a source confirmed to CSNCalifornia.com.

In his interview earlier this week with Sactown Royalty, Gay stated that he had undergone surgery to repair micro tears in his Achilles.

"I actually had surgery," Gay said. "I had Achilles tendonitis, basically micro tears in my Achilles and for the past two seasons it's been bothering me so I've been trying to play through it and I got to a point where I needed to have it fixed so I got it fixed.

"I feel better than I have in at least two years. I'm excited."

The 29-year-old small forward has missed short stints in each of the last three seasons due to Achilles tendonitis.
