ALAMEDA -- Derek Carr's mother Sheryl Joyner-Carr wrote on Facebook Tuesday afternoon that her son and Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is out of surgery to repair a broken right fibula.

Carr got hurt in Saturday's victory over Indianapolis, and had surgery in Los Angeles Tuesday morning.

Here's the content of his mother's post:

"UPdate: Derek is out and doing EXCELLENT! We are very pleased as a family! Thank you for all your prayers! When Oakland decides to release a formal statement, you will hear it from them! Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes and love and support! It was and is truly amazing! We have the best fans in the world...Derek has felt your love and support!"

Derek Carr's brother David Carr said Monday on NFL Network that the initial recovery timetable was slated for 6-8 weeks.
