Thin on Linebacker, Raiders Sign Veteran Perry Riley

ALAMEDA -- The Raiders signed veteran inside linebacker Perry Riley on Tuesday afternoon, adding experienced depth to a position group that is razor thin.

Riley played for Washington from 2010-15, but suffered a complicated foot injury that took a while to get right. He was released just before the season started.

The Raiders haven't announced a corresponding move, though it seems likely Ben Heeney gets moved to injured reserve with an ankle injury. Head coach Jack Del Rio said that was a possibility during his Monday press conference.

Malcolm Smith is also banged up with a groin injury, though his playing status remains uncertain.

Riley spoke to reporters about coming to Oakland. Check back for updates from Riley and the official corresponding move.
