Sharks to Open 2017-18 Season Against Flyers

The Sharks will open the 2017-18 season on Oct. 4 at home against the Philadelphia Flyers, as the NHL released each team's home opener on Wednesday.

The full 82-game schedule will be announced on Thursday.

The Sharks have won their last seven season openers, the longest active streak in the NHL. Since the start of the 2006-07 season, the Sharks are 9-1-1 in their first game of the season, including 5-0-0 at home.

San Jose and Philadelphia split their two meetings in 2016-17, with each team defending its home ice.

The Sharks played the Los Angeles Kings in their season opener in each of the past three seasons.
