Celtics Send Extra Draft Pick to Cavs to Complete Irving-Thomas Trade

UPDATE (9:21pm PT on Wednesday): "The trade is now complete."

That's the last sentence of a joint statement issued by the Celtics and Cavs late Wednesday night.

Boston will officially send Miami's 2020 second-round pick to Cleveland, closing the book on a trade that was previously announced last Tuesday night.

Okay, now it's a done deal.

With the trade between the Cavs and Celtics in limbo for several days, the two sides reportedly agreed on extra compensation Wednesday evening.

In addition to Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and a 2018 first-round pick, Boston will now reportedly include a 2020 second-round pick for Kyrie Iriving.

The 2020 pick from the Celtics comes by way of Miami, according to USA Today.

The deal was in flux due to the Cavs having concerns with Thomas' physical exam. The teams announced the trade last Tuesday, but Thomas hadn't yet taken his physical.

News of the new agreement was reported by ESPN.
