Draymond Always Aware of Which Teammates Need to Get Shots

On Saturday night against the Blazers, Draymond Green took just four shots and made just one of them.

But he grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out 13 assists.

"Getting someone else involved is always it for me," Draymond told Damon Bruce on 95.7 The Game on Monday. "I've always been that way. An assist just does way more for me personally than scoring the basketball. If I leave a game with two points or 20 points, and I did everything else, I think I had a great game.

"So that's the way I've always felt about basketball, really life. I'd rather you have it than me. My mom would get mad at me back in the day -- I'd give someone my last dollar, she'd get so mad like, 'Why would you do that?' 'Well I don't know, they needed the dollar more than I did so I gave them the dollar.' And that's me on the basketball court. I'd rather someone else score than me."

For the season, Draymond Green has dished out 198 total assists -- 57 to Steph Curry, 47 to Klay Thompson, 40 to Kevin Durant, 15 to JaVale McGee, 11 to Andre Iguodala, 10 to Ian Clark, nine to Shaun Livingston, four to Zaza Pachulia, two to Kevon Looney and one each to Patrick McCaw and David West.

Of Draymond's 13 assists against Portland -- five went to Curry, three to Durant, two to Thompson and McGee, and one to Iguodala.

"Playing the game the other day (vs Portland) where I pretty much had a dunk and I saw Klay come streaking down the floor -- he hadn't got as many shots up," Draymond explained. "I'm always aware of who hasn't gotten shots up and I try to think about those things, because at the end of the day that's what we do. You want him to stay in rhythm, you want him to feel comfortable.

"And so I kicked it back out to him for the three. And most people would say that's a bad play. I don't really care if they think it's a bad play. I understand my teammates. I know what everybody offers to this team and him hitting a three is way more important than me getting a dunk."
