Durant on Relationship With Westbrook: ‘We're Still Cool'

Following Kevin Durant's decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors, everybody has wanted to know what the state of his relationship with Russell Westbrook was.

During his introductory press conference on July 7, Durant said his relationship with Westbrook "won't be the same."

But at a Nike event in Austin, Texas on Friday, Durant sang a different tune.

"We're still cool. We're going to compete against each other at the highest level. We're gonna have fun against each other. We're still cool," Durant said in response to a question from a fan.

Durant and Westbrook were teammates for eight seasons.

In the months following Durant's decision to leave Oklahoma City, Westbrook has appeared to take a few veiled shots at Durant through social media.

On July 29, a Facebook video appeared online showing a man asking Westbrook how he felt about Durant. The Thunder point guard responded with a loud laugh. Three weeks later, Westbrook posted a video to his Instagram account singing a sound with the lyrics "Now I do what I want."

The former teammates will face each other as opponents for the first time on Nov. 3 in Oakland.
