Instant Replay: Curry, Clark Catch Fire as Warriors Soar Past Blazers

PORTLAND – In their first game since opening night against a playoff-caliber opponent, the Warriors put together their best performance of the season.

Five players scored in double figures, and the defense tightened up after the opening minutes Tuesday night, and the Warriors rolled to a 127-104 bashing of the Trail Blazers at Moda Center.

Stephen Curry totaled 28 points, Ian Clark had a career-high 22, Kevin Durant 20, Klay Thompson 14 and Andre Iguodala 11 as the Warriors won their third consecutive game.

The Warriors dominated inside, outscoring the Blazers 60-28 in the paint and also taking their first rebounding advantage of the season, beating Portland 45-32 on the glass.

Damian Lillard led Portland with 31 points, 13 coming in the first quarter.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS

Clark owned the first half, and Curry took over in the second.

Clark’s line: 22 points (8-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-3 from deep, 3-of-3 from the line), three steals and two rebounds and one assist. He played 25 minutes off the bench and finished plus-18.

Curry’s line: 28 points, 23 in the third quarter alone, (10-of-21, 5-of-10, 3-of-4), four rebounds, three assists and a steal. He played 30 minutes and finished plus-24.

TURNING POINT

After the Blazers cut the deficit to seven (76-69) with 5:45 left in the third quarter on back-to-back 3-pointers by CJ McCollum, the Warriors responded with a 18-2 run to take a 94-71 lead with 1:09 left in the quarter.

The Warriors led by as much as 35, with the outcome never in doubt.

INJURY UPDATE

Warriors: G Pat McCaw (L ankle sprain) and C Damian Jones (R pectoral recovery) were listed as out.

Blazers: C Festus Ezeli (L knee recovery) was listed as out.

WHAT’S NEXT

The Warriors return home Wednesday and will face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday at Oracle Arena.
