Airbnb Founder Rents His San Francisco Home Out Anonymously

One of Airbnb's co-founders admits he secretly rents out a portion of his San Francisco home on the site.

Nathan Blecharcyzk, who is the CTO of the multibillion dollar company, has hosted more than 100 guests in a portion of his house that has a separate entrance.

"I don't reveal who I am because, first, for privacy reasons, but also because I want to make sure I have the authentic experience that other hosts are experiencing," Blecharcyzk admitted on CNBC. "I don't want to treat them differently."

Blecharcyzk told Lifehacker that he started being an Airbnb host in August 2014 and was recognized once by a reporter who had once interviewed him.
