Apple Wants to Go 3D

A behind the current look at what Apple engineers are working on

One way to get an inside look into the normally secretive company is to look at what patents they are filing.

Macrumors.com regularly keeps an eye on the latest Apple filings and uncovered Steve Jobs desire to jump on the "Avatar" bandwagon.

Apple is reportedly researching 3D displays that will allow uses to look around in an object based on their "relative position.'

Most probably using video, the patent goes on to say that the 3D displays could possibly integrate elements from the users surrounding into the view.

While the idea is not a new one -- even for Apple, who has been looking at the idea since 1995 -- if brought to reality it could drastically change everything from gaming to graphic design to architecture.
