Bay Area Tech Companies Fare Well in Glassdoor Review of Benefits, Compensation

Google, Facebook get top marks for company perks.

Tech work isn't all it's cracked up to be: In addition to great pay and flexible work hours, Silicon Valley firms also offer fantastic benefits.

Is your resume ready yet?

Career Web site Glassdoor took a peek at what various companies offer their workers. Its findings are perhaps not surprising: Google has terrific benefits, the best of any firm around.

Behind Google are Costco, Facebook and Abobe, the Business Times noted.

Other Bay Area companies fared well: Intuit, Chevron and Salesforce.com all made the top 10.

Glassdoor used data from "23 million members" to make the rankings, Forbes reported, relying on workers to be honest with their workplaces via a "company review form."

Pay is the key driver behind a good place to work. And tech delivered: base pay for software engineers at Google is $128,000, and $120,000 at Facebook.

But Costco's workers, who make far less, still make way more than fellow low-end retailer workers at, say, Walmart. And they enjoy tremendous benefits, Forbes noted.
