Dish, Blockbuster Introduce “Netflix-Killer”

Netflix may want to get its head out of the ground because the competition is coming.

Dish Network and Blockbuster announced a partnership that will bring a new subscription video service called Blockbuster Movie Pass.

The service will bring both physical DVDs -- movies and video games -- and streaming media to televisions and PCS all for only $10 a month.

The problem is the promotion is only being offered to current Dish Network subscribers. People who switch over to Dish's America's Best 200 package will be given the service for free for one year.

While the limited subscriber base doesn't immediately make the Blockbuster Movie Pass a Netflix-killer, the companies did say at its San Francisco press conference Friday that non Dish subscribers should stay tuned for more options in the near future.
