Elon Musk, Steve Wozniak, Stephen Hawking Speak Out Against Military Robots

Elon Musk, Steve Wozniak and Stephen Hawking are three prominent voices calling for a global ban on the use of autonomous weapons..

The Tesla CEO, technology innovator and physicist joined hundreds of experts in the artificial intelligence and robotics industries in signing a letter proposing the ban that was presented at Monday's International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Buenos Aires.

According to The New York Times, the letter argued that humans should always be in control of weaponry decisions, stating in part, "If any major military power pushes ahead with A.I. weapon development, a global arms race is virtually inevitable, and the endpoint of this technological trajectory is obvious: autonomous weapons will become the Kalashnikovs of tomorrow."
