If Apple was threatened by all the supposed iPad killers out there it might try to shake things up with its popular tablet.

But why mess with something that already works? If things ever go south for the gigantic iPhone, Apple reportedly has a smaller version waiting to go.

There have long been rumors that Steve Jobs might soon unveil a 7-inch iPad to go along with the current 9-inch one. But a new report suggests Jobs has had the smaller tablet in his back pocket all along and chose not to put it on the market.

Jobs reportedly decided bigger was better and left those who want a smaller tablet computer to turn to the likes of the Dell Streak.
