Pentagon Working on Giving Troops ‘Terminator Vision'

For soldiers, their eyes just aren't good enough. The Pentagon wants to improve them, allowing them to see behind them as well as giving them a whole boatload of data.

The new push is called the the Soldier Centric Imaging via Computational Cameras effort, or SCENICC. In addition to being able to see in 360 degrees around you, you'll also get "high-resolution computer-enhanced imagery as well as task-specific non-image data products such as mission data overlays, threat warnings/alerts, targeting assistance, etc." It all sounds very futuristic and crazy! But just think: once this comes to the military, it can then come to us civilians. I don't need it, but I'd sure take it.
