Reddit User's Super-Commute Theory Finds It's Cheaper to Work in SF, Live in Vegas

Has San Francisco gotten so expensive that it would be cheaper to live out of state and fly to work in the city?

One Redditor's theory suggests it could be cheaper to live in Las Vegas and commute to San Francisco rather than live in the city itself. User yourslice posited paying $3,123 for rent on a one-bedroom apartment in San Francisco versus paying $1,012 for a two bedroom 10 miles outside of Las Vegas and flying in each week for a four day work week and claimed that, with additional public transportation costs figured in, someone could save $1,124 per month.

CityLab noted that, while yourslice's theory makes an entertaining argument for what the publication called "mega-commuting," it doesn't take into account factors such as the value of time and the toll commuting takes on one's health.

"The hyperloop will solve this issue," suggested Reddit user ip_address_freely.
