Rotary Dial iPhone Clears Patent Hurdle

It's right there in black and white and jargon: the patent for a rotary iPhone has been approved, according to PatentlyApple.com.

No, Steve Jobs isn't taking us back to the future; he's pranking the competitors and wannabes that follow the weekly patent filings of the mighty Apple.

In the 2007 Keynote, which was the iPhone preview, he referenced the fake rotary dial set-up, laughing at the absurd design.

Turns out the Chief Executive Prankster has a good memory, because he's listed as the chief architect on the patent application.

(PatentlyApple.com updates twice a week with Apple's comings and goings through the patent office. If you're looking to add to your fanboy cred, bookmark it.)
