Warriors Unveil Mission Bay Arena Video at Dreamforce

The Golden State Warriors released the first video of the team's proposed $1 billion arena at Salesforce's annual Dreamforce convention Tuesday at Moscone Center.

Warriors president Rick Welts unveiled the two-minute animated video of the 18,500-seat, 12-acre arena in San Francisco's Mission Bay. Mark Benioff, the CEO of Salesforce, has agreed to sell the arena site to the Warriors.

The Warriors want the arena to open prior to the 2018-19 NBA season. The project will be privately financed and include a 5-acre park next to the water. The site itself is adjacent to the Mission Bay campus of UCSF's medical center.

Opponents say the 18,000-seat arena will crowd out bio-tech and make it harder for staff and patients going to UCSF hospitals. City staffers say they’ve got those issues under control.

A public relations specialist for the arena opposition group says the city isn’t being honest about its positive outlook.
