The top tier at Yahoo is about to shrink.

Three of the company's top execs are leaving the company, Kara Swisher reports, opening up the door to speculation about the firm's management.

Hilary Schneider, the head of U.S. media and advertising sales for the company, VP of Media Jimmy Pitaro, and U.S. Audience Head David Ko, will all be resigning, sources told Swisher.

Swisher reports the three are leaving by choice and Schneider has wanted to leave for some time but stayed aboard at the request of CEO Carol Bartz. She will remain with the company until Yahoo finds a replacement.

News of the resignations has the rumor mill swirling about Bartz's future, too. Some board members had an emergency meeting at the company's Sunnyvale headquarters to discuss how to deal with the management issues, according to Swisher.

The company plans to announce the departures Friday.
