The Stanford football team has ditched its paper playbooks -- thousands of pages of Xs, Os, and the lines that connect them -- for iPads, according to the San Jose Mercury news.

School officials say that the Cardinal is the first team to make the transition from paper playbooks to digital. The 100 iPads, purchased through a Denver-based sports company, will allow for less paper, less cost -- as there is no need to print new plays -- and can be erased remotely, to keep football secrets secret, the newspaper reported.
