Silicon Valley Restaurant Week: Eating Global Locally

Nearly 50 restaurants are on board to celebrate Silicon Valley Restaurant Week (November 3-10), offering choices of three-course prix fixe menus for $25 and $35. It's presented in the spirit of culinary adventure as diners, can try new places and flavors while dreaming of faraway lands but still staying in the local boundaries (ie. from Palo Alto to Los Gatos). What this amounts to is a lot of choice in not a whole lot of time for not too much money, but we've got a few tips on how to navigate through next week's options.

Palo Alto's Junnoon fuses different regional favorites throughout India with that of neighbors such as Sri Lanka, a snapshot of the culinary hybrids coming out of top kitchens in Mumbai and Bangalore. Surely an impressive detour from the conventional curry plates. Opt for a sensual experience at Zitune in Los Altos, where Moroccan food encourages intimacy (utensils optional). Or decide not to decide between Thai, Vietnamese, and other Southeast Asian foods; just hit E&O Trading Company in San Jose, where influence is drawn from throughout the region for a hearty Pan-Asian experience. Also in San Jose, and for those who may be feeling death-defying, there's always Blowfish Sushi to Die For in Santana Row, where Citrus, Village California Bistro and Wine Bar, and Yankee Pier are also taking part in the special menus. The Japanese spot is lethally good but, like SVRW's other participating restaurants, it won't actually risk overdrafting the bank account. Come on, live a little.
